True to her word, Ava O’Brian is back and ready for action in the second book of the Intentions Trilogy, Deadly Intentions, by Lisa Kuehne. Just recovering from her near death experience involving a run in with some deadly demons, Ava is hoping for some rest and relaxation, including spending one-on-one time with her boyfriend, the irresistible Sam. But, alas, as always, therein lies a problem. It just so happens that her one and only is a dark angel himself. There goes the recreation Ava was pining for. It also doesn’t help matters any that William, one of God’s true angels, is also vying (and lying) for her attentions. Yet Ava’s problems aren’t finished. Ava carries a special gift, a gift that helps influence others to do well something her ol’ buddy The Devil isn’t exactly fond of. With a slew of Satan’s followers on their tails, Sam and Ava are desperate to end the unrelenting tirade of angelic against demonic. When Ava starts having nightmares that actually come true the very next morning, she doesn’t know where to turn. Is she creating good or evil? She also discovers her ability to read her enemies thoughts only solidifying her belief that maybe her gift for goodness isn’t exactly flowers and unicorns. But it doesn’t end there. Aiden, Ava twin brother that was killed in a car accident, hands his soul over to Lucifer under one condition. Satan cannot harm Ava in any way, shape, or form. The Devil agrees–reluctantly. As soon as Ava is brought up to date on her brother’s situation, she, Sam, William, and a few others set out to save her brothers spirit literally. Things go downhill from there. Sam and William are constantly at each other’s throats. Ava is fighting the temptation to end everything and fall to her knees at the devils beck and call. Aiden is slowly causing disaster around the globe. Caught between two different sides, who will Ava give her gift–and her heart to? Her soft brown eyes widen in obvious alarm, and a green pallor takes over her face. She mouths the words, oh my God-.

Opinion:

This. Book. Was. Absolutely. Brilliant. There is no other way to describe it. It had everything action, romance, intrigue, drama all perfectly mixed together better than your Grandma’s cookie batter. There was enough romance to keep me sighing, but it never got to sappy or obsessive. The story progressed beautifully, always keeping me on edge. Besides sometimes being dark and terrifying, Ava had a humorous sarcastic wit, along with an independent spirit. Seriously, this little lady could win the Miss Firecracker Award. Easily. I recommend you read the first book, True Intentions, beforehand, as it will catch you up on what happened before the chaos. I loved how this book had such a wide range of characters. I could at least connect to one of them. The ideas of heaven and the underworld this book portrays are interesting, too,the afterlife, the relationship between angels and demons, the ways mortals are smashed right in between. I also like how the story is told through Ava’s point of view it helped me understand the method behind the madness. The vocabulary was fresh and definitely drew you into Ava’s plight. After the dynamic ending, I am extremely anxious to read the final book in the series, needless to say. If you love almost having a heart attack from all the suspense in your books, this novel is for you! I keep bouncing up and down in the back of the cargo van but now Stephen and Susan are taking me to face Satan. Since they killed Rick, I suppose they’ll have to find another human to end my life and make me one of his immortal followers. I would recommend this book for ages thirteen and up, or for mature readers. The novel did have some mild expletives in it, and casual sexual references. Even though it does talk about God, it is not a faith based book. Will Ava and Sam’s relationship survive through all trials and tribulations? Will they be able to save Aiden’s soul in time, or will evil rule? Read Lisa Kuehne’s new novel to find out! Reviewer Age:12 Reviewer City, State and Country: Leopold, Missouri U.S.A.

Summary from Goodreads:
Sixteen-year-old, Ava O’Brian’s may have survived her ordeal with Satan, but her troubles are far from over. They’re just beginning. Her premonition nightmares only create questions about her special ability; is she really capable of influencing good or is she truly creating something else—evil. Uncovering the truth behind her miraculous survival, and choosing between the two immortals fighting for her affection will reveal far more than she is expecting and expose her to Deadly Intentions.

My Review:

Deadly Intentions had me hanging on the edge of my seat. It is a little darker than the first book but just as good, if not better. I loved it!
Things are starting to go back to normal, well as normal as they can when you are dealing with Satan. Ava and Sam’s relationship is strong, Ava’s mom is dating again and William is still in the picture. But then things start to go downhill and fast. Ava is having nightmares where she is seeing bad things happen and then wakes up and sees that they happened in reality. She confides in William about her nightmares. She is wondering if she really does have the power to influence others to do good. Sam is not happy at all that Ava went to William instead of himself. Then Ava comes to find out that her dead twin brother Aiden, who she thought was in Heaven, has given his soul to Satan to save her.
This is only the beginning to what is such a heart pounding sequel. The author has thrown so many twists and turns and some new characters in the mix. I was shocked to learn who is really deceiving Ava and Sam. What Ava finds out from her mom was quite a twist, you’ll have to read the book to find out. I liked how the author had the love triangle between Ava, Sam and William play out. Ava has matured in this one and I really like how she takes control. All the characters are very strong and don’t back down from anyone. We were left with a great cliffhanger ending in True Intentions but the author out did herself in this sequel. I think my jaw hit the floor when I was reading the ending. The last few sentences I was like OMG!
I am so excited to read the third installment to see what happens next. I am recommending this to urban fantasy and/or paranormal romance fans. You will not be disappointed!

First DEADLY INTENTIONS Amazon Review

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Novel!!!,June 18, 2012
This review is from: Deadly Intentions (True Intentions) (Kindle Edition)

Deadly Intentions is the wonderful, intriguing sequel to Lisa Kuehne’s True Intentions. Kuehne threw me a dark and twisted storyline in this second novel. I thought Kuehne left me on an agonizing cliffhanger in True Intentions, but she definitely tortured me with the cliffhanger in Deadly Intentions and waiting for Kuehne’s third installment to the this series so I can find out more on Drake’s character is not going to be easy. Kuehne has added a dark new character with Drake in this amazing storyline, and she’s only let me have a delicious taste of him, just to have me wanting more of this bad boy. I also would like to give praise to Kuehne on the scene with Sam and Ava, when Ava had a choice to make. I praise Kuehue for how she had Sam handle this situation with Ava. I love that Sam didn’t play any games with Ava and that he stood up for himself to let Ava know where he stood and how he felt. This is why I love Sam, he’s strong and he doesn’t play games, and even though I understood what Ava was going through, I was really hurt that she did this to Sam. But like I said, Sam’s character is gorgeous, and I love that he’s has this hardness about him.

Ava is starting to question herself–if she really does have the power to influence others to do good instead of evil. Her dreams of destruction to hurt and kill mankind are really happening in the real world. Will, who is an angel, has been sent to earth to protect her, but he’s falling in love with her. When Ava asks Will to help her figure out why her evil dreams are coming true, this doesn’t go well with Sam, or for Ava and Sam’s relationship. Also, Ava finds out that her twin brother Aiden, who died a year ago, has sacrificed his eternity in heaven for her to Satan, so Ava wouldn’t die. Even if Satan has Ava’s twin brother, he still has his fallen angel trying to find Ava to stop her from saving mankind. But Ava is determined to rescue her brother from Lucifer. Plus there’s also Jack, who has just became her new step brother. Ava is finding out she has her hands full with all this and with her fight with Lucifer.

Lisa Kuehne turned up the heat for Ava in Deadly Intentions with her hot fallen angel romance and the battle against Lucifer, and there’s also Drake, which I’m waiting to find out the rest of his dark, demented secrets in the next book. I recommend Deadly Intentions as a dark, surprising, forbidden love twist. I also recommend True Intentions the first book in this fantastic series
